plenishFounder Kara Rosen launched Plenish in 2012, bringing cold pressed juice to the UK and is now the market leader in premium healthy drinks. Their cold pressed juices, probiotic waters and dairy-free nutmilks are sold nationally through leading retailers like Ocado, Waitrose, WholeFoods Market, Planet Organic, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. We interviewed Kara to find out her secrets to success.

What are your top tips for keeping up with the forever changing health trends?

Don’t read trend reports, and start listening to your clients! Create products that answer the needs of real people.

Which other similar companies do you admire or inspire you?

Nike, Apple and Zappos.com in the US and Green and Blacks.

What were your influences around your company?

I wanted to create a company that was designed for the modern wellness consumer who cares about product integrity. Over 1/3 of adults are buying food & drink for health purposes, and over half don’t trust the brands out there. All of our products have been designed for ambitious consumers living a busy lifestyle by nutritional therapists. No fads, no cutting corners. Our cold pressed juices contain over 1kg of organic veggies that’s been pressed into each bottle keeping nutrient density high and sugar content low. Our Nut M*lks are the nuttiest milks on the market – 7% almonds, water and a touch of Himalayan salt – nothing else.

Did you / do you take food or hospitality trends into account, if so, what?

We’ve been selling direct to consumers via www.plenishcleanse.com for nearly 4 years. Understanding what consumers want, particularly when they are travelling and busy has given us some great insight for innovation, and we’ll be introducing some new products for the on-trade very soon!

What is unique about your company?

We are smart products for smart people. We never stand still, dream big and know that our clients do too. We press only the best ingredients into each one of our delicious drinks so our clients can squeeze more out of there life – that’s what gets us out of bed in the morning!

What are your plans for the future?

Our newest product, Plenish Water+ just launched into a national distribution with Waitrose. It’s the UK’s first probiotic water – simply water, a touch of cold pressed juice and a vegan probiotic, nothing else. We have three new products in the range including Lime+Cucumber, Pineapple Ginger and Blueberry Pear and they range from 5-23 calories.  We’ll be on the road this summer with lots of exciting activation’s.
